Eventum Legal is celebrating its first-year anniversary and all of the success our team have achieved; servicing over 200 clients, putting parent’s back with their children, supporting families at the most difficult times, ensuring fair investigations, justice and the right results. Whilst doing so we have achieved in excess of 50 five star reviews – putting us in the same playing field as firms that have been in existence for many years.
Although our firm is one year old, our team bring a combined experience of over 25 years of expertise in criminal law to our clients, specialising in the niche area of sexual and domestic offences. We are an all female law firm, representing men, women and children at varying stages of proceedings including police investigations, court appearances, appeals, and cases at the the Criminal Case Review Commission (CCRC).
Jessica Wilson launched Eventum Legal in July 2024, following a successful career at a number of law firms throughout the Northwest. Jessica has dealt with serious criminal cases including murder, armed robbery, conspiracy offences, offences against the person and serious sexual offences. Jessica’s passion lay with those who were falsely accused of sexual offences and domestic violence due to the damage that was caused to lives, families and careers. She feels very strongly that the justice system is not up to date with how these cases are handled, the police and Social Services lack training and there remains a large gender bias against men, particularly in cases of domestic abuse.
Jessica took her skills and experience and implemented it in a way she had not seen in other law firms – this was simply to apply a more compassionate approach and to put the client before profit. Jessica has a very tactful way of dealing with police during an investigative stage of a case, and often succeeds in obtaining no further action for her clients, but when cases do proceed to court her knowledge and approach to cases provides our clients with the security and support they desperately seek.
Notable cases:
R v Y
Minshull Street Crown Court
A 17-year-old accused of raping a 15-year-old girl he had met on Facebook when they had met for the first time. The client was remanded into custody and Jessica dealt with his case. The case was discontinued before trial. Jessica accessed the client’s social media accounts with his consent whilst he was in custody, she extracted and reviewed over 800 messages and was able to present those to the CPS leading to undermining the prosecution case, giving them no option but to withdraw proceedings.
R v R
Chester Crown Court
18-year-old acquitted of sexual assault by penetration when he is alleged to have penetrated his partner whilst she slept.
Jessica prepared the case for trial and gathered defence evidence which undermined the complaint, including forensic examinations of electronic devices. Following 2-hour deliberations the client was unanimously acquitted of the offence.
R v R
Liverpool Crown Court
Client accused of historical sexual abuse of a family friend who had severe mental health issues. Jessica spent a considerable amount of time with the client’s family obtaining a thorough understanding of the dynamics and relationships. She obtained statements and supporting defence evidence.
The client was found not guilty by a unanimous jury after only 20 minutes of deliberation.
R v W
Inner London Crown Court
Client acquitted of sexually assaulting a young woman on a train, and a separate young woman in a supermarket. After trial Jessica worked with instructed counsel and secured a defendant’s cost order in the sum of £18,000, this meant the client was paid back his legal expenses from the CPS.
R v A
Aylesbury Crown Court
Driving instructor accused of sexually assaulting a student acquitted after trial. The case involved introducing bad character of the complainant to show that she was capable of lying. Introducing bad character of the complainant can be an incredibly complex legal hurdle to reach, but due to the preparation work carried out by Jessica the jury heard about it, and this was enough for them not to be sure that the complainant was telling the truth about the sexual assault.
17-year-old Given Caution For Possession of 706 Prohibited Images of Children
Jessica represented a 17-year-old student accused of being in possession of over 700 prohibited images of children. By negotiating with Cheshire police Jessica was able to secure a caution for this client. This meant he was not entered onto the Sex Offenders Register and was not prosecuted at court.
16 year old – No Further Action for Sexual Assault
Jessica took a robust approach to a case which involved a 16 year old with Special Educational Needs (SEN) being accused of two sexual assaults. Within a matter of days the case was no further actioned. Jessica has remained instructed in this case to pursue an investigation into the conduct of Greater Manchester Police in this case.
20 Year Old Cambridge University Student No Further Action in Rape Case
Jessica represented a university student accused of rape. What was a very difficult time for this client, Jessica offered emotional support whilst applying a robust and no stone unturned approach in proving his innocence, and everything that was wrong with the allegations. Following a pre prepared 15 page written representation document being provided in interview, and pre-charge representations providing supporting evidence to the defence case, the client was no further actioned with an apology from the investigating officer.
